Our Partnership with Aabybro Efterskole in Aalborg, Denmark
The school is located in Aabybro which is situated close to a larger city, Aalborg, in the northern part of Denmark. Aabybro School is a private boarding school with 170 students. It is an “international” school and exchange programs are a part of their curriculum. They have houses on campus where our students will stay during the exchange, of course separate houses for males and females, with teachers staying overnight.
This exchange began with class-to-class collaborations between Mrs. LaRoue’s World History students and Mrs. Fruensgaard’s German students in 2012. Mrs. LaRoue will continue the collaboration this year with her AP World History students. Mrs. Blaesing’s Global 12 English students will join in the collaboration this year with a focus on literature. Other academy teachers will join the collaboration with global connections.
Mrs. LaRoue traveled with the first delegation in January 2013. During the time of the exchange, there were 2 student holidays, so the students only missed 4-5 days of school. The Denmark Delegation will travel to Virginia Beach in April of 2014.
