FlightTimes for Costa Rica
Mrs. Comer's Travel Log
Good evening,
We are here and safe. We have internet right now. The flights were easy and hassle free. The kids are ready for dinner in 10 minutes. Several kids have tried to call, but we are having technical difficulties with calling cards. We'll try to call again after dinner. I'm sitting in a beautiful grand lobby listening to a piano performance. Several students are playing pool and hanging out in the game room. Wendy took us on walking tour that included a stop at an outdoor market. I'll write again after dinner.
Please know that we're all safe and having a great time, Mrs. Comer

Buenos Noches,
Tuanis - translation - super duper very cool and awesome
Tuanis is the kind of day that we've had. It started with an amazing breakfast and a beautiful view of San Jose. We headed to INBIOpargue to see sloths, iguanas, mariposas, snakes, and so much more. There was time for a quick coffee stop at a coffee plantation. The next stop was to a volcano crater. The clouds lifted as we peered out into the mist. The kids were ready for the lunch of chicken or beef, beans, rice, plantains, and fruit smoothies. The after lunch adventure was the bus ride down a winding road through the mountains. The ride provided breath taking mountain views. We stopped at an awesome waterfall. The last stop before the hotel was for ice cream and to see tons of iguanas. The hotel has a beautiful pool with fun topiaries. The kids had a great time in the pool, hanging out, and playing Uno. Senora Hinton has posted photos to the GSWLA fb page.

Buenos noches,
It has been another exciting day filled with activity. I'm struggling to attach photos. Senora Hinton, Senora Zaldivar, and Senora Free are busily posting pictures to the GSWLA fb page. We started the day climbing down 500 stairs to an amazing waterfall. We hiked back up 500 stairs to head to kayaking. The kids had a great time kayaking with the volcano in the background. Everyone was ready for lunch after kayaking. A delicious chocolate tour followed lunch. The last big event of the day was the hot springs with the volcano in the background. Spaghetti was served for dinner. The trip is really amazing.
Please check out the GSWLA posts and thanks,

Buenos noches,
We left the Arenal region today. We had a 3 hour bus ride to the horses. The horse ride was amazing. We had views of the cloud forest and the Pacific Ocean. Senora Free has busily posted photos from today. I'm still struggling with uploading photos. We had a delicious spaghetti dinner after an adventurous night hike. The highlight of the hike was seeing a tarantula in the wild. The evening entertainment was a surprise. The hotel had a musician play while we ate. He invited students to join him on stage. Paul and Thaddeus jammed out several tunes for us. It has been another amazing day in Costa Rica.

Hola from Costa Rica!
Yesterday we experienced a large storm (it’s the rainy season) and as a result we didn’t have very strong internet connection. This is Mrs. Free writing the update from our past two days:
Day 5: The day began with planting trees as part of a reforestation project. The local high school takes care of the trees planted by EF student travelers. We then took a nature hike and our guide, Wendy, pointed out plants, trees, insects, and birds—very educational! The highlight of the day was next: zip-lining! There were more than 10 different lines of various lengths —the longest was a kilometer long and went over an entire valley. The views were fantastic and everyone felt empowered as a result of going out of our comfort zones! Students also had time to shop for souvenirs in the small town of Santa Elena.
Day 6: We left Monteverde this morning and stopped at a local elementary school. Students were able to give the children at the school the supplies they brought, played soccer, toured the school, and took pictures. We traveled to the Pacific side of Costa Rica, meanwhile we learned more facts about Costa Rica (politics and real estate) from Wendy. We arrived at our current hotel to find it has a pool, air conditioning, games, great rooms, and, according to the signs, only 30 meters from the beach! Students were able to swim at the pool and view the nature and sea creatures on the beach. After dinner we had a bonfire on the beach with s’mores.
Pura Vida!
